We are moving to a new studio!
That’s right, folks! I am moving to a new studio.
Okay, so I’m only moving like five feet from one room in my house to another room but a move is still a movie! And, after all the years of accumulating “stuff”, even a room move that’s probably less than five feet from room to room is still a daunting task!
I have everything set up in the new studio where I can be “functional” but this movie just started so it’s going to take a while to complete. But basically, the story goes like this:
I have seriously outgrown the smallest converted bedroom of our house. My son doesn’t need all the space that he has in his room and, by switching rooms with him, we will (hopefully) accomplish a couple of things:
- I will get the extra added space I desperately am in need of…
- He won’t have all the extra space to completely destroy his room (autism at work and all of that)
As this move progresses, I have been taking a small amount of photos. The photos don’t really capture exactly how small my original little studio is but it should be perfect for Tyler now. As the move and the new studio progresses, I’ll keep taking various photos. For now, here is the progress so far:
MY OLD STUDIO
We have already started clearing out a bunch of stuff to put in my son’s room. All of HIS stuff is currently sitting in the middle of our living room.
THE NEW STUDIO
All the stuff in my old studio has been moved into the new room. Not a whole lot of thought or care was done here. It was mostly a “get everything in there then sort though it and decide where it is supposed to go”. Not the idea situation but it needed to be done for speed purposes while we had the help to do so but definitely a stressful way to go about doing something like this…
I started to make more precise decisions where things are going to go. I am dealing with only two electrical outlets so I am limited where I can put things. Those things include my printer, my computer, my drawing table, organizational draws where I keep my markers on top and close at hand with the drawing table. But things are progressing.
This is basically where everything stands now except the glass drawing table (near left corner) has been cleaned off (for my work laptop) and my iMac and printer have all been set up so I can do other personal work as well. All my boxes and things I need to sort through are stacked high right behind my studio chair in this picture. But for now, I have space to move and work. Things may change quite a bit once I start organizing stuff but it seems this is the best set-up room-wise for my drawing table and computer desk.
