The awkwardness of thanks…
I’ve been trying to experiment with the way I prepare the strip for the web and still have enough foresight to have these strips prepared for print if I eventually go that route. Being a long-time Freehand user, I’ve been experimenting with importing my print-ready scan into Freehand and then creating all the text and word balloons. From there, I will export the file as a PNG, bring it into Fireworks and then save it to my server.
With my CMX Suite strip though, I never worry about saving a printable version of those strips so the entire strip is done in Fireworks at 72 dpi. I haven’t liked how rough the previous Capes ‘N’ Babes strips seem to appear so I wanted to find a better solution but without having to essentially create twoversions of the same strip – one for the web and one for print.
I think I finally have figured out a method that won’t require a TON of extra work and will get me the best results in both worlds.
