Pro Advice – Repeat Strip #107…
C’mon… who hasn’t taken their portfolios to a comic book convention and heard the exact same thing Roy is hearing in this strip? If you’re one of the many, this strip is for you.

Oh, heck yes! On the other hand, when everyone seems to be telling you the same thing… make sure you tell them what you had INTENDED to draw. ‘Cause that one always goes over real well. 🙂
Proudly, my own portfolio has been ripped apart by many pros. My favorite was Mike Grell, who made sure to tell me that if I really wanted to be an artist, if I really wanted to make money creating art, make sure Comics weren’t going to be my only source of income!
Good points all around, Chris (especially that last one about making a living).
I originally wrote this strip as a way to comment on how hypocritical that judgement can sometimes be though. It’s kind of hard to SERIOUSLY take the advice of someone who ONLY talks about improving ones drawing and anatomy skills when there are lots (okay, maybe only one or two?) pretty big comic book artists that are clearly making a decent living that seem to have little or no anatomy skills whatsoever. You know? 🙂
Rob who? :O
