#966 – Celebrity Contestant…
Alright… so for those that didn’t or couldn’t put all the pieces together from Monday’s strip, here is the breakdown:
As I said before, the two big clues were the name of the community center and the last panel full of Dr. Pepper logos. Here’s how those two things fit together…
In the great horror/comedy classic, An American Werewolf in London, the character that becomes the American werewolf is named David Kessler. David Kessler is played by the actor, David Naughton. David Naughton is famous for, essentially, two things – the role of David Kessler and… singing the “Wouldn’t you like to be a Pepper too” commercials for… that’s right, Dr. Pepper.
Someone collected a compilation of David Naughton’s Dr. Pepper commercials on Youtube. It’s not of the best quality but it might bring back some memories (as well as keep that commercial jingle in your head all day)…
So, in order to put some light on an obscure 80s pop culture blip, you have to resort to a third-rate pun?
I applaud you sir.
Aren’t ALL puns really “third rate”? 🙂
And by the way, Nathan, I know I have a really good (bad?) pun when it makes my wife groan – and she really groaned a lot when she read THIS strip! 🙂
I’m just waiting for Brad “King of Puns” Guigar to show up and apply some disciplinary measures … again.
SHHHHHH! We don’t want Brad to come in here and take away my Pun Union Card now, do we? 😉
Sadly, we can’t drown him.
Puns aren’t really good unless they draw blood and damage internal organs.
Well, hopefully “Aqua-Pella” was good enough to do one or the other – or both! LOL!
Well, some bruised ribs and extra-scratchy eye-boogers, but
Sounds like you were in a couple of puny fights. 🙂
