704 – Miracle Worker…
So I will be at Katsucon this weekend – actually, starting on Friday. Katsucon is a HUGE anime show that’s local in my area, Washington DC. If anyone is planning on attending the show, I will be in Artist Alley with a bunch of other webcomic creators.
I will also be on three panels during the weekend. Here is my schedule if you’re interested in hearing me talk about webcomics, Capes & babes or anything else that might come up:
Friday, Feb. 17th
5:30 – 6:30 pm Digital vs. Print
Saturday, Feb. 18th
6:00 – 7:00 pm How to have a webcomic career on a shoestring budget
Sunday, Feb. 19th
11:00 am – 12:00 pm All Webcomics Panel
(This one should be VERY fun – and crowded too!)
But speaking of a shoestring budget…
Since late last year, quite a few people who have seen me at various shows have asked me when I plan to release Volume 3 of Capes & Babes. I have enough material, that’s not the problem. The problem is trying to afford to print a large number of ALL THREE VOLUMES. So, I’ve been exploring the possibility of putting together a Kickstarter Campaign. There’s still a lot more research I want to do… from what I’ve read so far, if you’re going to commit to doing a Kickstarter campaign, you should do it the very best you can – so that’s what I’m doing. I’m planning.
But I’d like to ask you all… would you be willing and interested in supporting a Kickstarter campaign from yours truly?
Here are some campaign incentives I’ve been brainstorming so far:
- An exclusive inked version of YOU as a Capes & Babes werewolf or vampire
- Special acknowledgement of your contribution in a special “Wolfpack section’ of Volume 3
- PDF versions of all three books
- Obviously copies of all three books
- An idea I had last night… for the Wolfpack section, instead of JUST having simple text listing everyone’s names, I was thinking about putting together a spread depicting all the individual werewolves and vampires from the people who contributed to idea #1 with a map listing all the “special wolfpack” contributors to Volume 3.
- A special appearance in a Capes & Babes strip
Would these be interesting and exciting for you? What kinds of incentives would YOU be interested in? Please feel free to add your ideas, comments, suggestion or whatever in the comments section. I am interested in as much feedback as possible.
Thanks!
Looks like someone is getting a makeover soon in the comics. 😀
Yuuuuuuup! 🙂
Flick, also check out the incentives on the “Order of the Stick” Kickstarter… he’s got some creative stuff up there… of course, he also has the all-time Kickstarter record, but that’s a separate thing.
Yeah, I already checked out his Kickstarter but I think his story is also so unique too. I don’t have anywhere NEAR the longevity or the following that the Order of the Stick does but some of his incentives were very interesting…
I think all of these sound great. I especially like #1. Otis Frampton just had a successful Kickstarter campaign for his Oddly Normal book. I would also check out the campaigns that Jay Potts did for World of Hurt. Scott Sava has also done two successful drives for the Dreamland chronicles books.
Hey Little John…
Thanks. I already checked out Otis Frampton’s Kickstarter last night. His campaign gave me an idea to offer a variant cover for the third book. My idea is to put each contributer on the cover of their very own variant cover!
I’ll look up Jay Potts’ campaign later on today.
