Okay folks, today the Flickster will teach you about the difference between “the youths” and “the old”.
Today, it is snowing here in Northern Virginia – the first snow of the winter season for us. Now, when you’re “young”, you would typically look at today with wide-eyed joy and enthusiasm because that might mean you get out of school early and it’s just plain ol’ fun playing outside while it’s snowing (even if there isn’t a whole lot of snow on the ground).

But, if you’re “old”, you hate the snow because that means you invariably realize that means your commute to and from work will be mean sitting in a car and not moving for 2 – 3 hours!!!

I live 40 miles away from my work. Typically, on a good day of rush hour traffic, it take me about an hour to get to work. Not bad for the Washington DC area (believe me, I’m lucky!). Today though, with no snow actually coming down (yet), I had a 3 friggin’ hour commute!

And now that the snow has actually picked up – and the roads are getting slicker then they were this morning, I’m probably going to have an even LONGER commute home.

Siiiiiigh.

I don’t hate the snow. I just hate people who can’t drive BECAUSE of the snow.
