Super late night Saturday ramblings – because I’m totally bored, alright?

Siiiiigh…. in a “normal” world, a few hours ago, I would have just returned from a 3 hour drive from Virginia Beach after having an after-show meal with Dan Nokes or John Dimes once MonsterFest 2021 was over. Really enjoyed my last two times I attended MonsterFest but right now, that’s just not a possibility. Yeah, me and my family are fully vaccinated but if my government contract job still thinks everyone should keep working from home, well, conventions – even one day library ones like MonsterFest – are simply out fo the question for me.

And, that’s the same reason I won’t be in the Kids love Comics section or doing my “How to draw cartoon werewolves” panel at the Baltimore Comic Con in a couple of weeks. Yeah, I know Baltimore is doing a great thing in requiring proof of vaccination but there are just a lot of other personal, family things I have to consider. But hopefully, in 2022, I’ll be able to get back on the convention circuit because I do miss it!

So… when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, right? If that’s the case, I’m trying to make some pretty awesome lemonade for 2022.One of the things I have been doing for the last couple of Saturdays has been taking my son, Tyler, on various “shopping trip outings” for a few hours. That last two Saturdays, I started filming Tyler in my van before we set out for the day. I have posted those videos on my Facebook page if anyone is interested.

but here’s the thing…
Back in March, I was forced to go from a gig I loved to a gig that was the complete opposite – one that nearly zapped any energy for drawing or any other creative endeavors. But eight months later, I found a new gig that I really, really enjoy. I am now working on a Navy contract with PEO Digital as a web and graphic designer. If you would like to see some of the stuff I have been doing, you can follow PEO Digital here on LinkedIn.

I have been enjoying this new gig so much so, that it has inspired me to get back to drawing on a regular basis. And one of the things I have kind of been keeping a huge secret is that I have actually started working on a Roy the Werewolf graphic novel. I have no idea how big this graphic novel will end up being but I have been inspired by the graphic novels Dan Nokes and Tom Belland have both done. And, I already have a five page prologue completely sketched out and scripted.

I am also doing another Inktober Coloring Book this year. This year’s theme is “Wacky National Holidays” and once all the Inktober illustrations are complete, they will be compiled into a new coloring book.

If all goes well for 2022, you’ll be able to pick up one of these coloring books at a convention near you.

Hopefully, I will see you all next year!
