The Essential Capes & Babes book…
So… people have been asking me about a new book. Well, here is the front cover design of the newest Capes & Babes book I am currently in the middle of working on. It is also the reason why there haven’t been any new strips since I got back from the Baltimore Comic-Con this past week. But, speaking of the show…
The Baltimore Comic-Con was a blast this year!
It was also one of the few conventions that I have attended in the last couple of years where I have returned home feeling weirdly rejuvenated instead of completely exhausted.
Maybe that had a lot to do with a brief conversation I had with Mark Stokes (of Zombie Boy fame: http://www.zombieboycomics.com/) one day during the show where he gave me a terrific idea for the “extra features” for the “Best of Capes & Babes” book I had talked about on a previous Webcomic Alliance podcast. It was Mark’s idea that I should take all the advice I have been giving out about conventions and table set-ups and make a book out of those thoughts and ideas. I didn’t think there would be enough content for an entire book but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it would be a perfect “extra content” section of the “Best of Capes & Babes” book I had planned. Once the idea was planted, I was super excited to start work on it as I already had the idea to spoof the old “The Essential [fill in the blank]” CDs the were popular in the early 200’s or so.
So, with Labor Day being Monday the day after the show, I spent it going through the first four books and collecting the very best – and my personal favorite – 250 strips. I have only now just started to write the convention tips and tricks but if all goes well, I will have the book ready for sale by the time November hits and will be debuting the book at the Virginia Comic-Con two day show.
If any of you would like to suggest convention content you would like me to include or have any specific questions about conventions, please add them in the comments section below and I will see what I can do to add the information you want or answer any of your convention questions.
