#825 – The Knoplauf Special…
Webcomic creators like to pride themselves on the fact that their work is “unfiltered” – usually, that means there’s no editor to look things over, catch mistakes or make suggestions. Generally, that’s a pretty good thing – at least from a creative standpoint. But every now and then, it’s sometimes a good thing to have someone look over your work and make some suggestions.
A big shout out goes to my wife, Judi, for today’s strip.
Originally, I had Roy in the first panel and wasn’t really satisfied with the payoff in the last panel. That is, until my wife suggested I replace Roy with Marc in the first panel. When I did that, suddenly things fell in to place.
Moral of the story: Sometimes having an editor isn’t such a bad thing after all!
Now for something cool!
A couple of days ago, Stephen L. Fox sent me a Facebook message with a totally awesome surprise. He did a Roy pin-up sketch and wanted to know what I thought of it. I told him I wish I could say it was awesome but that would be an injustice to the word “awesome”. It was BEYOND awesome. He must have liked that compliment because a few days later, he sent me a full color version.
A smaller version is posted below so it can fit inside the blog. If you want to see the larger version, go to the Capes & Babes Facebook Fan Page and you can see it there.
You can find more of Stephen’s REDNECK SUPERHEROS comic over at www.nexcomic.com
Here is Stephen’s pin-up of Roy:
Thanks for the “thanks” and you are so very welcome.
I was a little aprehensive about the designs and jokes but you are taking the group into a whole new direction with the new streams of comedy gold!
And he really nailed Roy- I always thought that buff guy was in his mind how Roy thinks he looks 😀
Thanks for giving this new look and design a chance, man. This isn’t just willy-nilly… there’s a specific reason why all of the Capes & Babes characters have suddenly de-aged. Remember, there’s always (okay, ALMOST always) a method to my madness! 🙂
Thanks LooginIn!
I realize I’m a little late with this comment but I just recently got my new working computer. There appears to be an anachronism or parallel universe at work here for Roni wouldn’t have been a child at the same time as the rest of the crew.
Hey Rainey… yeah, there’s an explanation about why that might be but you’ll have to keep reading to find out. 🙂
Sorry I’m late to the comment party, but I wanted to say thanks for posting this Chris! It’s cool to see a drawing of a comic strip I like ON the strips site!
