#1006 – Proof is in the pudding…
Everyone gets a giant kewpie doll if they can figure out what the 8-Track tape is. It really shouldn’t be all THAT hard.
Also, I realize that the back window of Roy’s Time Machine Pinto shouldn’t be clear at all. You should actually be able to see the inner workings of the Flux Capacitor but hey, you’re reading a strip about a vegetarian werewolf. I don’t see anyone complaining about THAT, right? 🙂
Also II, where the heck did that saying “Proof is in the pudding” come from? Was there a famous murder case where someone was killed and evidence some how ended up in a bowl of pudding?
“Look, Sam! There’s the pissing finger… right there in that bowl of chocolate pudding!”
“Book her, Max! The proof is in the pudding!”
Yeah, it probably went down something like that…
Also III… on Thursday night, I will be a guest on the podcast, Comics Coast to Coast. I haven’t been on that show in AGES! We’re going to talk about a whole bunch of things but primarily we’ll talk about my hiatus and starting the strip up again.
I never meant to be so bad to you…
“The Case of the Pissing Finger”? Does sound a bit 1930’s British mystery…
And I’m far too young to recognize “Heat of the Moment” by Asia…
… damn.

As in “the exception that proves the rule”, “proof” here isn’t as in the proof of a theorem, but means “test”, i.e. you can only tell how good something is once you try it.
‘The proof of the pudding’ is just shorthand for ‘the proof of the pudding is in the eating’.
And the 8-track is Asia `Heat Of The Moment’, though that’s actually the name of one of the singles off the self-titled debut album. One of the first `supergroups’, featuring Steve Howe from Yes and Carl Palmer from Emerson, Lake & Palmer, they were actually a decent band. I think they put out a total of four studio albums, but not sure…
Yup… I was wondering when someone was going to pick that up. Believe me, I did that on purpose just to see if someone would notice. Honest. I swear! Really. I did!
